IonQ (NYSE: IONQ), a leader in the quantum computing and networking industries, has announced the renewal of its agreement with Abu Dhabi’s Quantum Research Center at the Technology Innovation Institute (TII). This renewal solidifies TII’s continued commitment to leveraging advanced quantum computing technologies to further the UAE’s position as a global leader in science and technology.
The renewal builds upon the initial January 2023 partnership, expanding TII’s access to IonQ Forte, one of the most powerful quantum computers available today. IonQ Forte, powered by the company’s largest single-core quantum processor, boasts 36 all-to-all connected qubits and enables hybrid quantum/classical computing for applications such as variational quantum algorithms.
TII, a Platinum Sponsor of the Quantum Innovation Summit 2025, continues to play a pivotal role in advancing quantum research for the UAE.
Expanding Research Capabilities
With IonQ Forte, TII will accelerate research in key areas, including:
- Developing qubit-efficient encodings for applications in simulating physical systems, quantum image processing, and solving linear systems of equations.
- Enabling faster quantum time-to-solution and improving solution quality for financial portfolio optimization.
- Estimating critical properties of quantum systems, including ground-state energy, for applications in chemistry and materials science.
- Creating innovative methods to convert classical data, such as images, into quantum states.
Rima Alameddine, Chief Revenue Officer at IonQ, commented, “We are proud to have TII as a returning customer and to support their ambitious quantum research initiatives. Having renewed our relationship for the second time in less than two years, we value the confidence that UAE’s TII has shown in IonQ as one of their quantum partners.”
Driving Innovation in the UAE
“Our continued work with IonQ enables us to stay at the forefront of quantum research and further the UAE’s position as a leading technology and innovation hub,” said Professor Dr. Leandro Aolita, Acting Chief Researcher of the Quantum Research Center and Executive Director for Quantum Algorithms. “These advanced quantum systems are integral to our efforts, and we’re excited to explore more possibilities with IonQ Forte.”
The renewed collaboration highlights the UAE’s commitment to leveraging quantum technology for transformative applications across various sectors, strengthening its position as a global technology and innovation hub.
